Giant breeds are classified as dogs weighing over 45kg when adult.

Because of their large size and high activity levels, the joints of giant breed dogs are put under great stress. During growth and throughout life, it is essential to feed a totally balanced food with no deficiencies or excess to ensure joint health, and our Giant food is specially formulated to help support healthy joints with glucosamine and chondroitin.

Giant breeds can also be prone to sensitive digestion, so we use only highly digestible proteins in our Giant range, plus prebiotics during growth to help ensure a balanced intestinal flora.

Royal Canin Giant Adult is a highly digestible food formulated to meet the specific nutritional needs of giant dog breeds. It contains extra large croquettes & is specially adapted for the energy requirements of large dogs.

    Adult giant dogs can weigh up to 100kg. Daily, their metabolism requires a very large amount of food with a high energy level. For example a Great Dane needs up to 1 kg of dry food per day. Their jaw size and temperament naturally predisposes them to bolt their rations greedly and simultaneously swallow large quantities of air. They sometimes suffer from aerophagia or in extreme cases stomach bloat. Giant dogs also demonstrate greater joint sensitivity.A problem observed in giant breed dogs is that of the time it takes for the dog to consume its food. If the kibble size is not optimized, giant breed dogs tend to consume their food very rapidly with little chewing. This behaviour can lead to digestive dysfunctions. Royal Canin Large Breed Giant Adult has been formulated with a unique kibble shape that allows better chewing and slower food ingestion.
